PETALING JAYA: A man who allegedly slashed his five-year-old son to death while the boy was sleeping was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today with murder.
He will face the death sentence on conviction.
Unemployed Mohd Faih Rifin, 36, a former member of the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela), was charged with murdering Muhammad Waiz Wazzini at Flat Puchong Permai 1/6, Taman Puchong Permai, Puchong, between 2.30pm and 5.30pm on Aug 13.
The man, clad in the violet lock-up uniform, looked calm. He nodded and said he understood after the charge was read out before Magistrate Nor Ariffin Hisham.
No plea was recorded as the case will be transferred to the High Court. Nor Ariffin set Oct 16 for mention.
Mohd Faih was unrepresented while Deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Firdaous Mohamed Idris appeared for the prosecution.
