PETALING JAYA: The Seri Setia and Balakong by-elections will be held simultaneously on Sept 8, the Election Commission (EC) announced today.
Nomination day will be on Aug 18 for both constituencies.
EC deputy chairman Othman Mahmood said the campaign period for both by-elections will stretch for 21 days.
The Seri Setia seat fell vacant after its assemblyman, Prof Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin, died of colon cancer on Aug 2.
In the May 9 general election, Shaharuddin garnered 29,250 votes to win the Seri Setia seat.
The Balakong by-election meanwhile was triggered after its incumbent Eddie Ng Tien Chee was killed in an accident on July 20.
In the 14th General Election, Ng retained the seat with 41,768 votes.
