
The independent inquiry body comprises representatives from the health and women, family and community development ministries and also other related agencies.
Dzulkefly said in a statement that a meeting was held with Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Hannah Yeoh to discuss the action to be taken.
“Following media reports on the incident, more medical officers, including housemen, have come forward to lodge similar complaints with the women, family and community development ministry.
“The health ministry urges all victims of harassment whether in physical, verbal, mental or sexual form to lodge a report directly with the health minister by sending an email to [email protected],” the statement said.
The health ministry also said it would give its full co-operation to the police investigating the case.
The Sunday Star had reported allegations that a head of orthopaedics had sexually harassed and made sexual advances against house officers.
After graduation, doctors undergo two years of housemanship before they can serve as medical officers or enter practice.
One of those interviewed in the report had said a police report was lodged last year, but no action was taken.
