The project was criticised earlier this month by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, who alleged that the project was a “mini-1MDB” and that the real costs had been hidden.
He ordered a reduction of the project size and authorised a budget of RM16.6 billion. The 37km-long LRT3 line, with 26 stations, runs from Johan Setia, Klang, to Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, and was scheduled for completion in 2020.
The finance ministry ordered five stations to be removed and the schedule extended to 2024 to cut costs.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is reported to be investigating some Prasarana board members and senior management who were with the company from 2014 to 2017.
Also being investigated are consultants, contractors and project delivery partners involved in the project.
In a statement today, Prasarana said its board of directors and senior management took a serious view of any wrongdoings which could affect the company’s integrity and reputation.
The statement came a day after the Prasarana board denied speculation on the departure of its president and CEO, Masnizam Hisham.
