
He said the matter had been conveyed by PAS to Umno’s top leadership.
Speaking at a press conference at the Putra World Trade Centre here today, he said Umno Youth had submitted the name of one of its members to be considered for the by-election.
“The Sungai Kandis by-election will be good training ground, and will also help the party assess how prepared it is to face this challenge.
“We will await the final decision of the party’s top leadership regarding our nomination,” he said.
The Sungai Kandis state seat became vacant following the death of PKR assemblyman Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei.
Shuhaimi, a former political secretary of ex-Selangor menteri besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, died of lymphoma on July 2.
The by-election will be held on Aug 4, with nomination on July 21.
