Speaking to reporters outside the Dewan Rakyat, he said the Singapore side wanted to meet him before July 31.
“We’ll try to accommodate that date, but it is subject to my participation in Parliament because my deputy was just appointed yesterday and there are many questions for my ministry. We’ll see how it goes,” he said, referring to his new deputy Mohd Radzi Md Jidin
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad earlier said the project might be postponed, not cancelled, as Putrajaya could not afford to compensate Singapore if it pulled out of the project.
He also said Azmin would renegotiate the project with the republic.
When asked what he was looking to renegotiate, Azmin said: “Everything.
“The entire project needs to be reviewed,” he added. “The prime minister made it very clear today that it’s not about cancelling the project. We need to review it.”
When asked what Putrajaya’s priority was in its meeting with Singapore, Azmin said the government wanted to reduce costs as well as the country’s debts.
“So if the project is viable at a later stage, then we can discuss. But our priority now is to cut costs.”
