PETALING JAYA: The Election Commission today announced that the Sungai Kandis by-election will be held on Aug 4, following the death of PKR assemblyman Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei.
Nomination will be on July 21.
Shuhaimi, a former political secretary of ex-Selangor menteri besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, died of lymphoma on July 2.
He retained the Sungai Kandis seat in the May 9 election, winning it for a third term with a majority of 12,480 votes against candidates from Barisan Nasional, PAS and PRM.
