
He said the move was in line with efforts to improve governance and rationalise expenditure.
“These projects include the National Immigration Control System (SKIN) and others,” he said in a statement yesterday.
In May, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad revealed that the national debt had reached an alarming RM1 trillion.
To reduce national borrowings, he announced that several mega projects worth billions of ringgit such as the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit Line 3 were cancelled.
Mahathir also announced the disbandment of government-related agencies and institutions to reduce government spending, including the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD), Special Affairs Department (Jasa) and the National Council of Professors (MPN).
