MACC arrests Najib at his home

The former prime minister will be charged tomorrow after close to two months of investigations linked to 1MDB.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested former prime minister Najib Razak at his home in Taman Duta.

MACC’s special task force on 1MDB said Najib was arrested at 2.35pm, linked to its probe into SRC International, the former subsidiary of the troubled state firm.

It said Najib would be brought to the Jalan Duta court complex to be charged.

Since his fall from power after the May 9 polls, Najib has been under investigation over allegations linked to the 1MDB affair.

In raids at several properties linked to Najib’s family, police uncovered cash, luxury goods and jewellery, with an estimated value of some RM1 billion.

Najib has maintained that the seized goods were gifts to his family during his premiership.
