PUTRAJAYA:
An architect of a government-linked company (GLC) was ordered to be placed under remand for five days beginning today by the Magistrate’s Court here for an investigation into alleged misappropriation involving tenders worth RM300 million.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Muhammad Bukhori Md Raslan following an application from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The 42-year-old suspect was detained at 1.30pm yesterday for investigations under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.

According to the commission’s preliminary report, the man was believed to have acted as a middleman in manipulating the costs of several projects.

He is the second individual to be arrested for investigation in the case. On June 28, a chief executive officer of a GLC was remanded in connection with the case and was released yesterday.
