Siew Kok Kan said although the GCC had the right to make the decision, this was an important matter that would affect the party as a whole.
“I call on the leaders to adhere to the party’s constitution to hold an EGM meeting before making a decision, which is a set procedure.
“The decision by them (GCC) should be made rationally and not emotionally. Any decision must get the approval of all the representatives at the meeting,” he said at Wisma Gerakan, here, today.
On Saturday, Gerakan issued a statement to announce its decision to leave the BN as part of its plans to consolidate the party after the disappointment of the 14th general election (GE14).
Gerakan also said that it had made a unanimous decision to leave the coalition, after serious and comprehensive deliberation, reflection and consideration on current political developments of the country post GE14.
