“It is okay for them to expose (scandals). There are pluses and minuses, but wrongdoings should be made public,” he told reporters after welcoming young activist Heidy Quah to the party.
Kit Siang was asked to comment on PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim’s advice to Guan Eng yesterday on striking a balance between exposing scandals and inspiring confidence among investors.
Anwar, a former finance minister, had said Guan Eng must be cautious when issuing statements as these would be used as reference points by investors.
He said Guan Eng should leave exposes to others, including the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
But last night, Guan Eng said his ministry would continue to expose scandals linked to the former Barisan Nasional (BN) government as he had been directed to do so by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Kit Siang, meanwhile, said he had been exposing wrongdoings over the last 52 years and did not see anything wrong with it.
“If they (those in the government) are in the know about it, they should be exposing it instead of being grilled by the opposition as if they (the government) are responsible for it.”
Kit Siang said by opening up, Putrajaya would be able to right the wrongs.
On a separate matter, he said he was in the dark over what was happening in Selangor when asked to comment on a claim that Pakatan Harapan (PH) had not endorsed Mohamed Azmin Ali as the Selangor menteri besar after the recent general election.
Ijok assemblyman Dr Idris Ahmad had claimed that his name (Idris’s) had been submitted to the Selangor sultan and that he had the blessings of all the component parties in PH.
“I will check with the leadership,” Kit Siang said.
I will keep exposing scandals as ordered by PM, says Guan Eng
Guan Eng should focus on building investors’ confidence, says Anwar
