
“Discussions were carried out smoothly and it (the choice) was done in the spirit of consensus to ensure continuity,” the PKR deputy president told reporters after Amirudin’s swearing-in today, adding that he did not want to get entangled in such polemics.
Earlier today, Ijok assemblyman Dr Idris Ahmad had claimed that he was the only menteri besar candidate endorsed by all PH component parties.
He said Amirudin was only backed by Azmin.
“Only one name was proposed, and that was my name. My name had the blessings of all parties in PH and it was sent to the Sultan of Selangor,” Idris told a press conference.
Amirudin however dismissed Idris’ claims, saying he was a team player.
Idris was earlier reported as a possible candidate to replace Azmin as menteri besar.

Azmin took the helm of the state from Khalid Ibrahim who stepped down after the 2014 menteri besar crisis.
The Gombak MP and state assemblyman for Bukit Antarabangsa gave up the state post after his appointment as economic affairs minister in Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Cabinet.
