PETALING JAYA:
A Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight from Singapore to Melbourne was delayed after an evacuation slide suddenly became deployed” on Friday, Channel NewsAsia reported.

It said Flight SQ247, a Boeing 777 operating from Singapore to Melbourne and Wellington, was being pushed back for departure from the gate when the incident happened at 7.45pm.

A SIA spokesperson told the news portal that they were looking into the cause of the slide deployment.

There were 243 passengers and 13 crew on board at that time.

No one was injured, the spokesperson confirmed.

SIA said a replacement aircraft was deployed for the flight and its departure time was rescheduled for 9.30pm.

This is the second time in two days that the world-renowned airline has been in the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Yesterday, reports emerged of enraged passengers on Friday’s Singapore-Kolkata flight complaining of rude staff.

They said they were forced to sit in a plane which had no air-conditioning for three hours.

Those who wanted to alight were told they would miss the flight and will only be able to fly two days later, without any compensation.

SIA is investigating the complaint made on Facebook.
