KUALA LUMPUR:
The Malaysian Indian Blueprint, introduced by Najib Razak’s government last year, is to be reviewed, but not discarded, Human Resources Minister M Kulasegaran said today.

“We are not going to throw it down the drain. We are going to keep and use it, as at the end of the day, the people will benefit.

“It doesn’t matter whose idea it was as long as the best ideas are utilised to empower the people,” he said.

The blueprint was launched by former prime minister Najib Razak in April 2017 as an official government document for the development of the Indian community in the country over the next 10 years.

A RM500 million fund was allocated for an investment scheme under Permodalan Nasional Berhad to inculcate the saving habit among the B40 (bottom 40% household income group).

Kulasegaran said further details on the blueprint and other issues about Amanah Saham 1Malaysia and the socioeconomic development of the Indian community would be discussed in a special committee meeting to be held in two weeks.

The minister had earlier opened an Indian Community Entrepreneurs Summit at the Temple of Fine Arts building here.

About 500 entrepreneurs are taking part in the summit which acts as a platform to provide business opportunities and help business owners learn the intricacies of entrepreneurship.
