
In a short posting on Twitter, the activist lawyer said he was overwhelmed by the appointment.
“He (Kit Siang) is a veteran leader who is respected and experienced,” he said. “I believe I will learn much from him.”
He said the appointment was not a government posting.
“I will continue practising as a lawyer,” he said.
Syahredzan had appeared publicly at Pakatan Harapan (PH) events in the lead-up to the 14th general election last month.
He had said in late April that even those once seen as apolitical were taking sides ahead of the May 9 polls because they wanted a change in government.
“I think a lot of people believe that a change in government at the federal level is needed to fix a lot of the problems the government is facing,” he had told FMT.
“These individuals, I don’t think they’re necessarily fans of PH. But I think they believe that after not having a change in government for 60 years, there needs to be a change for democracy to be realised,” he had said.
