The appeal and backup recommendations were submitted to the government’s Council of Eminent Persons today, MPN representative Mohamed Mustafa Ishak said.
“We suggested for them to reinstate MPN, and they will consider it,” he told reporters.
Mustafa was head of MPN’s politics, security and international affairs cluster.
MPN, which was set up in 2010, is one several agencies which the government ordered disbanded to save costs.
Other agencies include the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD), Special Affairs Department (Jasa), the Residents’ Representatives Committee (JPP) and Malaysian External Intelligence Organisation (MEIO).
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad also said some of these were established to serve political interests.
