PETALING JAYA:
A businessman has lodged a police report claiming he was cheated of RM8.25 million by a man who offered him “stocks” in three companies listed on Bursa Malaysia.

District police chief ACP Mohammad Azlin Sadari, who confirmed the report, said the conman was introduced to the businessman by a mutual friend in July 2016.

The victim was offered stocks and paid the money in four payments.

NST Online said after failing to hear from the suspect for a long time, the victim met two of the owners of the companies in December last year and realised he had been conned.

When he failed to locate the conman to get his money returned, he lodged a police report.
