KUALA LUMPUR:
Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil has promised a new secondary Islamic religious school for the residents in the area.

Speaking at a buka puasa event at Pantai Eco Park Community Centre here today, Fahmi said several spots suitable for the school have been identified.

“This is the third time PKR has won Lembah Pantai and this time Pakatan Harapan has formed the federal government,” he said. “Now our job is to ensure our promises are fulfilled.”

He said he will work with Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) and Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) to see that the school is built.

Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who was present, said Lembah Pantai was close to her heart as this was where her husband, Anwar Ibrahim, had first built a school for dropouts when he first graduated.

“He wanted to give those who had dropped out a second chance and through the school they could prove themselves.

“I hope to see that spirit in Kerinchi and Lembah Pantai continue.”
