He said Shukri’s tell-all at a press conference yesterday could invite prejudicial views of the case.

“There should not be any public statements made on the status of the investigations, lest it prejudice court proceedings, if there are any.

“Less talk, more work,” he said when met by reporters at the Ilham Tower today.

Abu Talib, who is heading a committee investigating 1MDB, said instead of making public statements, the task force led by Shukri was supposed to report to the committee to avoid any overlap in investigations.

Yesterday, Shukri had made a series of disclosures on his 2015 investigation into 1MDB, saying among others that there had been threats on his life and that Najib Razak’s administration had gone after him in an attempt to stop him from blowing the lid on the probe.

He said he had been ready to prepare charges with former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail, who was also part of the special task force to investigate the 1MDB scandal, which was discontinued just months after it was formed.

However, he added that he had received word that he would be arrested on the same day, and had subsequently fled to the US.
