
KUALA LUMPUR/PUTRAJAYA: The 13 ministers who were sworn in yesterday, most of whom are in the job for the first time, have reported for work at their respective ministries.
Amanah president Mohamad Sabu arrived at the defence ministry headquarters in Jalan Padang Tembak, Kuala Lumpur at about 9.30am.
Mohamad, popularly known as Mat Sabu, who won the Kota Raja parliamentary seat, was among the first three ministers named by Dr Mahathir Mohamad following Pakatan Harapan’s victory on May 9.

Meanwhile, DAP lawyer Gobind Singh Deo, who is now the communications and multimedia minister, arrived at the ministry in Putrajaya and was greeted by senior officers.
He clocked in at about 8.30am, and later chaired a meeting with ministry staff.
One of Gobind’s first tasks will be to abolish the Anti-Fake News Act, which was passed and gazetted as law just a month before the polls.

Outgoing Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, who has been appointed as the economic affairs minister, was among the earliest to report for work, arriving at the Prime Minister’s Department in Putrajaya at 7.20am.
He later held a meeting with officers from the Economic Planning Unit.
Other first-time ministers starting their work today include former Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng (finance), Simpang Renggam MP Maszlee Malik (education) and Kuala Selangor MP Dzulkefly Ahmad (health).
Also sworn in yesterday were PKR’s Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (deputy prime minister and women’s affairs), PPBM’s Muhyiddin Yassin (home affairs), DAP’s Anthony Loke (transport), Amanah’s Salahuddin Ayub (agriculture), PPBM’s Rina Harun (rural development), PKR’s Zuraida Kamaruddin (housing and local government) and DAP’s M Kulasegaran (human resources).
