GEORGE TOWN:
Lim Guan Eng has promised to scrutinise financial statements released by the previous government to ensure they are accurate, ahead of his swearing-in as the finance minister tomorrow.

“We must consider the previously announced financial statements, whether accurate or not, we have to check and study them further.

“From what I see, it does not appear to be like what was announced before. So we have to be extra careful,” he told reporters after visiting an exhibition in Komtar here.

He said any information that was not made available by the Barisan Nasional government would be unearthed.

“We want an open book for all,” he said.

Last week, Lim said he had stumbled upon some discoveries on the country’s financial statements, saying he had to work hard to fix them.
