State PAS commissioner Ahmad Fakhruddin Fakhrurazi said the failure to appoint an executive council was grave.
He said there were concerns that Mukhriz was facing problems in selecting the assemblymen to fill the 10 positions on the council.
Mukhriz said recently that all four Pakatan Harapan parties had agreed on the 10 positions to be filled and that an announcement would be made soon, after discussing the distribution of portfolios among those chosen.
However Ahmad Fakhruddin said the task of filling the council positions from among state assemblymen of four PH parties was a challenge that demanded wisdom.
Mukhriz took his oath of office last week at the head of a minority government. Pakatan Harapan won 18 seats, one short of a majority, in the 36-member state assembly. The Pakatan alliance comprises PKR (7 seats), PPBM (5), Amanah (4) and DAP (2).
PAS won 15 seats and the Barisan Nasional 3. Ahmad Fakhruddin said PAS accepted Pakatan’s victory which arises from the electoral system of “first past the post” and would continue to monitor the state government and to being the “voice of the people”.
Mukhriz, who is deputy president of PPBM, was ousted from the menteri besar’s post two years ago when he was with Umno in the Barisan Nasional.
