Nazri said the Umno Youth chief has what it takes to “rejuvenate” BN, which suffered heavy losses in the recently-concluded general election.
“We should give (the opposition leadership) to Khairy Jamaluddin because we need to rejuvenate Barisan Nasional.
“I will give support as an MP. Oppose only when necessary and give constructive criticism.
“That is my take on being in the opposition,” Nazri told FMT when contacted.
Nazri, who is Padang Rengas MP, was responding to a question on whether he would consider becoming the opposition leader in Parliament.
Khairy recently told his peers in BN to keep their chins up and rebuild the ruling coalition.
He said he wanted to return Umno to its original state when it was not regarded as a party isolated from the people, a party only for the elite, one that did not care for integrity, and a party seen to be arrogant and haughty.
