Shafie lifts entry ban on peninsular politicians and activists

Shafie Apdal’s first order, after being the second person to be appointed as Sabah Chief Minister last night, was to remove the entry ban on most politicians and activists from the peninsula into Sabah.

Speaking to reporters after clocking in for his first day in office at the state administrative building here today, he said the leaders included PKR vice-presidents Tian Chua and Nurul Izzah and activists S Ambiga and Maria Chin.

They were barred from entering the state on political grounds by the former Barisan Nasional government.

The Parti Warisan Sabah president said he would also meet heads of the respective government departments to brief them on the new direction of his government.

He had already met the Sabah police chief to be briefed on the security situation in the state.
