Warisan deputy president Darell Leiking said the Sabah governor had summoned assemblymen from Warisan, DAP and PKR, as well as the six former Barisan Nasional reps who defected yesterday, to the palace at 9pm.
With the six reps who were from Umno and Upko joining them, the PH-Warisan pact now has 35 state seats over BN’s 25.
Asked whether he knew if current chief minister Musa Aman had handed his resignation, Leiking said: “I don’t know but he should follow the law because he doesn’t command the majority of the state assembly anymore.”
Meanwhile, Bernama reported that Musa had an audience with Sabah governor Juhar Mahiruddin this morning, in a meeting which lasted less than 30 minutes.
Also in attendance at the closed-door meeting were state secretary Sukarti Wakiman and state Attorney-General Zaleha Rose Pandin.
According to Bernama, a palace source later revealed that there will be a swearing-in ceremony of the new Sabah chief minister at 9pm tonight.
The PH-Warisan pact had been tied with Sabah BN with 29 state seats following the announcement of Wednesday’s election results. STAR had secured the remaining two seats in the 60-seat assembly.
Musa was then sworn in as the chief minister on Thursday night after the BN obtained a simple majority to form the state government with the two STAR candidates including its president Jeffrey Kitingan having decided to work with the BN.
But yesterday, six BN reps said they wanted to join Warisan-PH, giving Shafie the majority to form the state government.
The six BN assemblymen who now support Shafie as the new Sabah CM are Tanjong Batu rep Hamisa Samat (Umno), Sebatik rep Abdul Muis Picho (Umno), Paginatan rep Abidin Madingkir (Upko), Kadamaian rep Ewon Benedick (Upko), Kemabong rep Jamawi Jaafar (Umno) and Balung rep Osman Jamal (Umno).
