Crowd mobs Shahidan’s car, thinking it’s Najib

Riot police disperse the crowd who have gathered outside Subang business aviation centre for Najib's rumoured departure.

PETALING JAYA:
Perlis BN and Umno leader Shahidan Kassim’s car was mobbed at Subang airport this morning by a crowd of about 50 people who tried to see if former prime minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor were inside.

Police stationed at Subang dispersed the crowd and allowed Shahidan’s car into the private aviation centre. The crowd of about 100 had gathered outside the gate to the business aviation centre after news circulated that Najib and his wife were supposedly about to leave the country.

At press time, there had been no sign of Najib and his wife.

FMT was unable to contact Shahidan for his comments. It is believed that Shahidan was in Kuala Lumpur for talks about forming a new state government in cooperation with Pakatan Harapan.

Media crews had been waiting at the gate to the Subang private aviation centre from 6am after a flight manifest was leaked last night showing Najib and Rosmah listed as passengers on a private jet to Indonesia.

Early this morning, Najib tweeted that he and his wife were “taking a short break” to be with their families, after a bitterly-contested general election campaign which left him out of office. He apologised to Malaysians for his “shortcomings and mistakes”.

A flight-tracking web site shows a flight plan for the aircraft, scheduled for a departure time of 12.15pm on Friday for the short flight to Jakarta.

The aircraft is a Legacy 650 jet operated by Indonesian business aviation company Premiair Aviation and is believed to be owned by a tycoon with business links to Felda’s plantations investment in Indonesia.
