FMT has also confirmed this with a highly-placed source in DAP who said Chow would be sworn-in as Penang’s fifth chief minister on Monday.
Chow, 60, was elected to the Tanjong parliamentary seat and Padang Kota state seat in the recent general election.
He had been a senior member of the state executive council, and held the portfolio for local government, traffic and flood mitigation,
Lim has been the chief minister since 2008 and had been anticipated to have a role in Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s new Cabinet.
The choice of first Deputy CM would be filled by PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, 54, or PKR deputy youth chief Dr Afif Bahardin, 32.
However, Saifuddin, who was an aide to Lim, is rumoured to be under consideration for a position in the federal Cabinet as well, Afif would then be the odds-on choice.
Penang DAP vice-chairman P Ramasamy, 69, is expected to continue as second Deputy CM, a post he has held since 2008.
