GEORGE TOWN:
Former minister Rafidah Aziz said it was time for Malaysians to think outside racial lines as the country enters a new phase of politics under Pakatan Harapan.

She reminded all Malaysians that all citizens shared the same problems, a similar destiny and a goal to improve the country in whatever way possible.

“What we are about to have in the future is a government that is multiracial. We have to behave as Malaysians.

“If a Malay person suffers from a stomach ache, it is the same as a Chinese, Indian or an Iban person going through a stomach ache … there is no difference,” Rafidah said at a ceramah held at the Esplanade grounds here today.

Rafidah also praised DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng for using the PKR symbol and resting its famous rocket for the sake of unity among the Pakatan Harapan parties.

“In my life, I never imagined that the DAP will drop its rocket for a common logo. This thing alone made me come out and speak on this stage today.

“I have been an MP since 1978. I was a wakil rakyat for 35 years. I am so happy to see the unity displayed in Pakatan Harapan.”
