Buntong incumbent A Sivasubramaniam said the alleged offer was an “insult” to Indians.
“We have heard that Zahid has offered Indians in Bagan Datuk free coffins. This is embarrassing, and MIC which is there cannot even voice out against this statement.
“People have to teach them (a lesson) and put BN in coffins instead,” he said at the ceramah at Jalan Pasir Puteh here.
The claim was made by pro-Barisan Nasional (BN) activist Ramesh Rao, who said in a Twitter post yesterday that Zahid had promised to bear the funeral costs and provide coffins for Indians in Bagan Datuk.

Kulasegaran, who is the Ipoh Barat incumbent, agreed with Sivasubramaniam.
“Why hasn’t MIC said anything about this?” he added.
Sivasubramaniam also hit out at the Perak state government, saying it had failed its people.
“In my two terms as an assemblyman, I had, for instance, asked the Perak MB about the terrible state of government hospitals here.
“I have visited some hospitals and I know. Why has the state government failed to look into the welfare of the people?
“We have been asking questions in the state assembly pertaining to the value of projects, but they reject our questions. They have been doing that for the past 10 years. If the people want a government that answers questions, you will have to vote us into government,” he said.
Kulasegaran meanwhile asked why BN had a manifesto launch when it was already in power as the ruling government.
“They should not be promising things, they should have already done it. They are making more promises that they won’t fulfil.”

DAP veteran Lim, who was mobbed by the crowd upon his arrival, told the people that they had to decide who they wanted as the next prime minister.
“The power now is in the hands of the voters to determine who becomes the next prime minister. Do you want Najib Razak or Mahathir Mohamad and later Anwar Ibrahim?
“Malaysia was admired by the world due to the first few prime ministers we had. We may have had disagreements with them but the nation was admired and respected by the world. Now we have become a global kleptocracy and an object of ridicule and scorn,” he said.
Lim also urged the people to return home to vote in order to “save Malaysia”.
