Azman Mahmood, of the Fight Illegal Activities Integrated Operation, dismissed claims that some entertainment outlets were granted immunity from prosecution.
“In the Federal Territories there are about 1,800 clubs which must be checked and we are going to all these clubs.
“If you have committed an offence, action will still be taken no matter what. There is no such thing as immunity,” he said after leading a raid on a prominent nightclub here at 1am.
Nightclub raids were in the news earlier this month when an Umno politician was detained on suspicion of drug abuse. He said, however, that he had been “set up” and only had coffee. Kuala Lumpur police later cleared him after a negative urine test by KL Hospital.
Last night’s raid team comprised members of 28 government agencies and 19 non-governmental organisations.
Three people tested positive for methamphetamine and 10 others were ordered to be present at the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department for investigation under the Syariah Criminal Offences Act.
Thirty bottles of liquor were seized.
