“It is a goal that we are determined to achieve once PH takes over Putrajaya,” said PKR Wanita leader Zuraida Kamaruddin at a press conference today with PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
PH component parties (PKR, DAP, Amanah and PPBM) were finalising the number of women candidates that they would field in the general election on May 9, said Zuraida, a two-term MP for Ampang.
Wan Azizah said PH would provide support to working mothers and to homemakers, who were most affected by the rising cost of living.
“That is why PH has promised to implement a mandatory EPF (Employees Provident Fund) contribution for homemakers. We promise to contribute RM50 to each housewife as a sign of appreciation, while 2% of the EPF contribution of the housewife’s working husband would be channelled to them,” said Wan Azizah.
