In a statement, Proton Holdings Bhd said its dealers recently visited the Shanghai Jinxi Automobile Sales and Service outlet, where they had the opportunity to view a model firsthand.
During a briefing session to welcome the delegates from Proton, the outlet’s general manager Xu Zhi Ming said the Geely Boyue SUV had been particularly well received by the public, selling over 30,000 units a month.
“Those who have booked would need to wait a good six months to get the car,” he said, adding that Boyue had surpassed other SUVs in terms of sales in the same segment.
Xu also said for a newbie in the SUV market, the response from the public had been overwhelming, with the Boyue being one of the fastest growing models in China.
He expressed hope that the SUV will receive the same response when sold in Malaysia.
