PETALING JAYA: Some of Kedah Barisan Nasional’s (BN) MPs and assemblymen could be dropped from the candidate list for the coming polls, according to Menteri Besar Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.
Although Bashah did not reveal the number of incumbents who would be affected by such a move, he said the matter would be “solved internally to prevent sabotage”.
“We need to embrace change. There is no need to feel bitter,” he was quoted as saying by the New Straits Times.
The Kedah BN chairman added that he would speak to those involved before the candidate list was announced, to convince them to support the new candidates.
There are 15 parliamentary and 36 state seats in Kedah.
In the 2013 general election, BN won 21 state seats and 10 parliamentary seats.
