Mohd Malek Mohd Ghani, a 35-year-old despatch rider, pleaded guilty to both charges.
He had been charged with voluntarily causing grievous hurt to his wife, Maznah Ramli, 26, by kicking her on the left thigh at a house at Desa Mentari 3, Taman Medan, here at 11.30pm on April 14.
He was also charged with criminal intimidation by saying: “I’m heating the oil and I’ll make you sorry for the rest of your life.”
Malek was sentenced to 12 months’ jail on the charge of causing hurt, and three months’ jail for criminal intimidation, the sentences to run concurrently from the date of his arrest on April 15.
