At special meeting, Najib urges BN MPs to remain united

MPs say the prime minister reminds them to continue supporting Barisan Nasional regardless of whether they are chosen as candidates in the coming polls.

Prime Minister Najib Razak today held a special meeting at his official residence, Seri Perdana, with the Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs.

The meeting, which began at 9am, lasted about half an hour.

Some MPs, who were met by reporters after the meeting said that Najib, who is also BN chairman, wanted them to remain united.

Santubong incumbent MP Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the prime minister also thanked all the people’s representatives for their services throughout the term.

“He thanked us for doing a great job.

“He also said that during the general election, there will be names that will be selected as candidates and some will be dropped, so he advised us to remain united with BN,” Wan Junaidi said.

Perlis BN chairman Shahidan Kassim, who is also the incumbent MP for Arau, said today’s meeting was considered special because Najib touched on solidarity and loyalty towards leaders.

“At the meeting, the prime minister reminded us to stay together as a family,” he said.

Meanwhile, Simpang Renggam incumbent MP Liang Teck Meng, who is also Gerakan secretary-general, said Najib also asked them to get ready for the coming polls.

Tapah incumbent MP M Saravanan said Najib advised the MPs to continue supporting the BN struggle regardless of whether or not they were being nominated in the general election.

“We are all happy with this meeting, which symbolises the unity of the BN,” he said.
