Speaking during an event in Kinabatangan, Bung Moktar said the allocation would be used to help those who enrolled in certificate and diploma programmes at Kolej Felcra in Perak.
“The allocation would also fund 60 tuition centres under the rural and regional development ministry nationwide,” he said.
“Four secondary schools and eight primary schools in Sabah will benefit. Children of Felcra staff entering university will also benefit from this scheme.”
Bung Moktar, who is also Kinabatangan MP, said Yayasan Felcra would partly repay students’ loans.
“Yayasan Felcra will repay 20% of the loans taken by Kolej Felcra students from the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN).”
Bung Mokhtar said apart from the education fund, Yayasan Felcra had also carried out many welfare and community programmes.
“Yayasan Felcra had organised health checks and a Sunathon (a mass circumcision event), like the one in Batu Puteh here last year,” said Bung Moktar.
“The foundation has also built new houses and repaired those damaged in fires as well as helped those affected by disasters and those who are chronically ill,” he said.
