PETALING JAYA:
PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin today hinted that he would stand as candidate in the state seat of Gambir in Johor, in what could be a plan to return him to the state he once led if Pakatan Harapan wins the coming polls.

“There is very good support here. So this is the seat I will be contesting for,” he said at an event in Gambir.

He however refused to say if he would defend his Pagoh parliamentary seat.

Johor is a frontline state for PPBM, whose candidates will contest in most of the state and federal seats.

Muhyiddin was the Johor menteri besar from 1986 to 1995, and last stood as candidate for a state seat in 1990, in Bukit Serampang under the Pagoh parliamentary seat.

He was transferred to a federal seat in the 1995 general election, contesting in Pagoh, where he has been the MP ever since.

Gambir, with some 54% Malay voters, is one of three state seats under the Ledang constituency.
