Click, click and you’re on your way to tick on May 9

Drivers and riders can link up through carpool.pulangmengundi.com.

PETALING JAYA:
A new website has been created to help Malaysians get home for polling day on May 9.

The website, carpool.pulangmengundi.com, is part of the #PulangMengundi campaign to provide carpooling services and travel subsidies for those who need to return home to vote.

The site shows the details of drivers who are offering carpools as well as riders who are looking for a lift home. Interested individuals can contact drivers or riders to make further travel arrangements.

“Going back to vote? Split the cost, make new friends. Use our tool to match with voters going in the same direction to #PulangMengundi!” the website says.

According to the organisers, the pulangmengundi.com website is a neutral platform which is not affiliated with any political party.

The hashtag #PulangMengundi has been trending since the midweek polling date was announced earlier this week.

Opposition leaders and activists are concerned that holding polls on a Wednesday will impact voter turnout despite Putrajaya’s move to declare a public holiday on May 9.
