SELAMA:
Perak police have identified 23 hot spots and 440 individuals who have the potential of bringing chaos in the run-up to the general election (GE14).

State police chief Hasnan Hassan said four of these areas are considered the “hottest spots” and 43 people, including supporters of political parties, are being closely monitored by police.

He said 90% of 8,709 state police personnel would be deployed statewide to maintain peace and order during GE14.

“We will also be assisted by 700 additional personnel from Bukit Aman,” he told a press conference after attending the Perak police contingent monthly assembly.

In this regard, he advised potential candidates and agents to always comply with the laws and regulations.

“We will not compromise with any party and will act firmly against those who commit offences,” he said.

Hasnan also witnessed the handing-over of duties ceremony of the Selama police chief here.

Former adjutant of the Kulim General Operations Force’s 2nd Battalion DSP Mohd Sabri Saad, 44, is the new Selama police chief, replacing DSP Loo Lian Lay, 60, who will retire on Sunday.
