KUALA LUMPUR:
Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has promised to find jobs for Malaysian youths in six months should the party retain power in Putrajaya.

At its manifesto unveiling tonight, Khairy gave an assurance that there will be plenty of job opportunities, and these will be quality jobs. He also promised more training for Malaysian youths.

“Imagine a Malaysia that provides you with work or training within six months after signing up with the government’s programmes for youths.

“Tell us what you want and give us six months to find you a job or offer you the right training for your dream job.

“That is my guarantee to you. My first assurance, that any young person who wants to work or receive training will be granted the opportunity in just six months.

“I have had enough of unemployed graduates. So, this is my offer to young people,” he said.

He then addressed the crowd, promising to create three million quality jobs.

“I have had enough of companies that are only looking for easy profits with cheap foreign workers.

“I have had enough of utilisation of foreign workers. I promise to reduce the foreign workforce to 15% only.

“But I will ensure that any quality jobs that they leave behind will be filled by you, young Malaysians.

“ECRL, HSR and all other infrastructure projects — let’s build it all together,” he said, referring to the East Coast Rail Link and the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail projects.

He added that BN will ensure that university students are also equipped with good Microsoft Office skills, as well as industrial training during the final semester of study.

“To all graduates, SL1M 2.0 will match you to quality jobs that you have dreamt about.

“You can also start enrolling yourselves in bootcamps by potential employers.

“If you want to work after you have completed high school, we will make sure companies and industries you are interested in take you in, then hire you and train you as their apprentices,” he said.
