SHAH ALAM:
The Selangor government has pledged that there will be no new allocations for projects following the dissolution of the state assembly today.

Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said there would be no more state exco meetings, and decisions pertaining to state matters would only be made after the next government had been formed.

“The current administration will serve as a caretaker government and will follow the functions and limitations of a caretaker government.

“There will be no approval for any allocations for whatever projects as stated by the limitations imposed during the period under a caretaker government.

“The mandate given by the people will be surrendered back to them,” he said at a press conference held at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah building here today.

Azmin had earlier obtained consent from Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to dissolve the state assembly.

He also announced that all official cars would be returned to the state.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that the Perak state assembly was also dissolved today.

The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, announced the dissolution of the 13th legislative assembly at a ceremony at Istana Iskandariah.

He called on all political parties and leaders to exercise responsibility and give priority to the security, public order and solidarity of the people.

He also said they should portray political wisdom by practising a mature culture of democracy.
