GEORGE TOWN:
The Penang Barisan Nasional will have an all-encompassing state manifesto for the general election, covering local to national issues, according to its chief Teng Chang Yeow.

He said the BN election machinery was raring to go, in an effort to wrest the state back from the DAP-led Pakatan Harapan government.

“Everything is printed and ready to go. Our election machinery is at full operating capacity.

“All we can say is if we win Penang, we will fulfill all our promises as per our manifesto. And our manifesto is a people-centric one,” Teng said in a press conference today.

Besides the manifesto, BN would also distribute a booklet on the “51 unfulfilled promises” of the present state government.

“We aim to highlight (their) weaknesses,” he said.

Teng, who is also Penang Gerakan chairman, said the Gerakan candidates for the state are being approved at the national level.

He was non-committal when asked which seat he would contest. “All I can say is that I am contesting a Penang state seat,” he said.

The current speculation is that Teng, who will be BN’s nominee for chief minister, will contest in one of these seats: Batu Uban, Pantai Jerejak, Sungai Pinang or Tanjung Bungah.
