3 nabbed on first outing to traffic drugs

Police say the men, who were found with RM13,200 worth of drugs, have no previous criminal records.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Three local men, believed to be trafficking drugs for the first time, were apprehended with narcotics worth RM13,200 in a car in front of a 24-hour convenience store on Jalan Cheras near here early yesterday morning.

Cheras police chief ACP Abdul Ghani Mohamad Ji said the three men – a mechanic, a contractor and a telephone shop assistant aged between 17 and 29 – were arrested by a Cheras narcotics CID team at about 12.50am.

“From an inspection of the green Proton Wira Aeroback the three were travelling in, police recovered various drugs believed to be ecstasy and ketamine in the legroom of the front passenger seat,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the three suspects admitted to taking RM500 from a man named Kevin at a shopping centre car park in Klang, Selangor, to deliver the contraband to a client.

Abdul Ghani said the transaction was the suspects’ first, and inspections had found they had no previous criminal records.
