
“They can be kingmakers and determine the voting pattern in this election,” she said during a Pakatan Harapan fundraising dinner here last night.
In the last election in 2013, there were 13.2 million voters, 50% of whom were women.
Maria, who will be contesting on a PKR ticket in GE14, also urged the people to come out and vote, and to use their ballots wisely.
She slammed the Anti-Fake News Bill 2018, tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday, as well as the Election Commission’s (EC) redelineation report which was gazetted with the king’s consent yesterday.
Saying the bill had failed to properly define fake news, she added that Malaysians deserved a country that safeguards their future and security.
“People need to fight for their rights, no matter how dark the clouds are.”
The EC’s redelineation report was passed in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday despite objections from the opposition which maintains that the redrawing of electoral boundaries will favour the ruling Barisan Nasional.
