BMW e-vehicle charging stations debut in Perak

Malaysia has emerged as the fifth largest market for BMW Hybrid vehicles.

IPOH:
BMW Group Malaysia, together with Tian Siang Premium Auto, has launched Perak’s first BMW i charging stations at the Weil Hotel here.

BMW Group Malaysia managing director and chief executive officer Harald Hoelzl said the electronic vehicle (e-vehicle) charging station demonstrated the group’s ongoing commitment to drive future mobility in the country.

“With Malaysia being the fifth largest market for BMW Hybrid vehicles, we are pleased to take the lead in electro-mobility in the country.

“It is also important to continuously expand the accessibility of charging stations for our customers, particularly through our network of authorised dealers,” he said in a speech at the launch of the three charging stations here.

Hoelzl said the group planned to introduce the BMW i charging stations to more states in the country.

Currently, the stations are located at Holiday Inn Melaka (two stations), The Equatorial Melaka (two stations) and CityONE Megamall Kuching, Sarawak (two stations).

Tian Siang Premium Auto Dealer principal Tan Ka Kin said up till last year, 45% of more than 400 BMW vehicles in Perak were BMW iPerformance vehicles, adding that the number would continue to grow.

“It is only natural that we take a step forward to further develop the charging infrastructure, together with our premium partners, in the state,” he added.
