A quick glance of the proposals by the EC shows that 10 opposition strongholds in Kuala Lumpur will be affected, including in Lembah Pantai which will see the inclusion of some 6,500 voters from the Tasik Perdana voting district.

In Kepong, where DAP’s Tan Seng Giaw is currently the MP, the EC has included 2,490 voters from Jinjang Tempatan. This would mean Kepong will have a total of 70,576 voters against only 68,035 in the last general election (GE13).
In Batu, which is currently held by PKR’s Tian Chua, as many as 10,345 voters will be moved out of the parliamentary constituency.
A total of 7,375 voters will also be moved out of Wangsa Maju and 2,970 will be added to Segambut.
Lembah Pantai, where PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar is the current MP, will see the addition of 6,598 voters from Tasik Perdana.
Kampung Bohol and Kampung Bahagia meanwhile will come under the Seputeh constituency. This means that 4,832 voters will be moved out of Lembah Pantai.
In Seputeh, held by DAP’s Teresa Kok, a total of 10,215 voters from four districts – Kampung Bohol, Kampung Bahagia, Kampung Sungai Besi and Bukit Jalil – will be added to the constituency.
Five voting districts in Seputeh – Salak Selatan, Taman Sungai Besi, Salak Tempatan Dalam, Salak Tempatan Changkat and Salak Tempatan Bukit – will come under the Bukit Bintang constituency, which will have an additional 14,254 voters.
Seputeh will then have 81,290 voters compared to the 85,976 it had in GE13.
In Cheras, a total of 32,600 voters will be added to the constituency as a result of having 11 voting districts under it.
The current Cheras MP is DAP’s Tan Kok Wai who has held the seat since 2004.
The 11 voting districts are Jalan Pasar, Jalan San Peng, Rumah Pangsa Loke Yew, Kampong Loke Yew, Jalan Loke Yew, Pudu Hujung, Jalan Sungai Besi, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Jalan Cheras, Taman Miharja and Pudu Ulu.
If the proposals are accepted, there will be 78,199 voters in Cheras compared to 72,551 voters in GE13.
In Bandar Tun Razak, meanwhile, the EC has rejected a proposal to remove Taman Connaught Utara and Taman Connaught Selatan from the constituency.
The motion today came as hundreds of protesters marched to the Parliament building, with some involved in scuffles with police who formed a barricade around the complex.
Representatives from Bersih have handed over a memorandum to Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia, warning him against allowing the motion.
