Although Azmin did not specify the nature of the threat, his warning came after Dzulkifli said MACC would call the original settlers of the land to assist the investigation into the sale of about 880 hectares to a private developer for RM1.18 billion.
He alleged that MACC was being used by Umno to attack him.
“Why is Umno angry with me for helping 980 people? Why is Umno more willing to help a company than the people?” he said, without naming the company.
He also accused Umno of blowing up the case in order to confuse the people.
“We should accept the fact that 980 settlers have waited for 20 years (for the issue to be resolved),” he told the state assembly.
He also showed a map of Ijok divided into three parcels of land: Alam Perdana, Alam Mutiara and Alam Utama.
He said only Alam Perdana belonged to the state government while Alam Mutiara and Alam Utama were owned by a private company.
Dzulkifli had said a group of the original settlers of the land would be called next week after the media reported that they were willing to give evidence to MACC on the case.
MACC has also remanded five suspects in its investigation.
On March 14, 113 settlers in Ijok filed a suit against Azmin and five others, alleging negligence in restructuring a consent order involving Bukit Cerakah land, thus jeopardising their right to compensation for late completion of houses promised to them.
The consent order was recorded in the Federal Court.
It was reported earlier that the state government under Azmin had resolved the land issue by reaching an agreement with a private developer involving compensation of RM180,000 cash and a house now valued at least RM500,000.
A majority of the original settlers signed the agreement facilitated by the state government, according to the report.
Yesterday, a group calling itself the Action Committee for the Bukit Cherakah Green Revolution Plan warned of legal action against anyone who attempted to sabotage the state government’s efforts to resolve the Ijok land compensation issue.
Meanwhile, Azmin claimed an Umno leader had told him that he was forced by Selangor Umno chairman Noh Omar to play up the issue ahead of the general election.
“I met Kuala Selangor MP Datuk Seri Irmohizam Ibrahim in Parliament. I spoke sincerely. I said why make so much noise. He said ‘I am being forced by Datuk Seri Noh Omar to make statements’. It doesn’t matter if he wants to deny.
“I also met (Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department) Datuk Seri Rahman Dahlan at the opening of Parliament. He said ‘It’s normal lah, Azmin, before a general election, we make some noise’. I said ‘you can’t, unless you have facts’.”
