This was disclosed by Selangor police chief Mazlan Mansor, who said they had managed to locate Rozita Mohd Ali, the New Straits Times reported.
“Efforts to track her down began after we received a notice from the court. She has already agreed to be present in court.
“Don’t ask when she will be present in court. Hopefully, it will be in the near future,” he was quoted as saying.
However, he did not disclose where police had found Rozita nor her current whereabouts.
On March 15, Rozita, 44, was let off with a good behaviour bond of five years by Sessions Court judge Mohammed Mokhzani Mokhtar after pleading guilty to causing grievous hurt to Indonesian domestic worker Suyanti Sutrinso. The prosecution had pressed for a jail sentence considering the severity of the crime.
The case sparked outrage over the sentence which saw her escape any jail time, with lawyers saying the judge had been very lenient on her.
On Wednesday, Rozita sparked a frantic police search after she and her bailor failed to turn up in court for a review of her sentence.
Deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Iskandar Ahmad told the court police had been unable to locate Rozita at her last known addresses in Kuala Lumpur and Melaka.
Iskandar, who is the Selangor head of prosecution, said police also went to the RMAF base in Subang to locate Rozita’s bailor but his quarters were empty.
Judge Tun Abd Majid Tun Hamzah then set March 29 to hear the prosecutor’s application.
A video of Suyanti seriously injured and lying near a drain in a housing area in Mutiara Damansara had gone viral in December 2016.
It was reported then that Rozita had allegedly used a kitchen knife, a clothes hanger, a steel mop and an umbrella to cause multiple injuries to Suyanti’s head, hands, legs and internal organs.
