Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said armed forces chief Gen Raja Mohamed Affandi Mohamed Noor and Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun were working together and had always shared information on irresponsible parties trying to take advantage of certain situations.
“As of today, I see the situation is still under control but we should not take for granted what we enjoy today.
“Peace does not come easily without cooperation, support, sincerity, honesty and determination from the relevant authorities,” he told a press conference after officiating an event in Kem Kementah, here, today.
Hishammuddin was responding to Fuzi’s comment that the police had identified 1,100 individuals and organisations who could potentially conduct such “last minute attacks” in order to trigger a riot during GE14.
Asked about the possibility of armed forces personnel themselves being potential “attackers”, Hishammuddin said he would not compromise and would take action if any of them were found trying to provoke such a situation.
“Officers and members of the armed forces will not be spared if they go against the law,” he said.
